Historical Actions:
Stimulant, antiseptic, cleansing and tonic to the kidneys, bladder and mucous membranes of the urinary tract. Mild diuretic action increases elimination of both watery and solid constituents of urine. However, it moderates excessive activity of kidneys.
Historical Uses:
Chronic, atonic diseases of the urinary system, or chronic irritation with discharge (especially in the aged). Abnormally acid or muddy urine loaded with salts, with constant desire to urinate but with little relief from the effort. Chronic cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, gonorrhea, pyuria (pus in urine) and fleet. Incontinince associated with prostate maladies.
Cautions:
Do not use in acute inflammations of urinary tract. Sensitive individuals may experience gastrointestinal intolerance; avoid taking on an empty stomach. Do not use during pregnancy. Buchu can harmlessly impart its aroma to the urine and render it dark in color.
