Editorial Policy

Mission & Scope

Press On Herbals publishes educational content about herbs, preparations, and research. Our goal is to make complex topics clear without sacrificing accuracy. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

Roles & Review

  • Authors: Draft content using primary sources and reputable monographs; note all citations.

  • Subject-matter reviewers (when applicable): Check accuracy, clarity, and context.

  • Editors: Ensure style, plain-language readability, and compliance with this policy.

  • Publishers: Final sign-off and schema/SEO integrity.

Evidence Standards

We prioritize human clinical evidence and authoritative monographs, then preclinical data when relevant. Traditional/ethnobotanical use is labeled as such and does not replace clinical evidence. Conflicting findings are summarized with links to sources so readers can evaluate the weight of the evidence.

Preferred sources include: peer-reviewed journals (with DOI/PubMed), systematic reviews and meta-analyses, pharmacopoeias, established monographs (e.g., ESCOP, Commission E, WHO), and recognized texts. Marketing materials and unsourced claims are not used.

Plain Language & Accessibility

We write for an educated general audience. Technical terms are defined in context. Pages are structured with scannable headings, tables, and summaries.

Safety & Disclaimers

Content is educational and non-diagnostic. We highlight safety considerations (e.g., interactions, pregnancy/lactation cautions) where reliable sources exist. Always consult a qualified professional for individual use.

Product Mentions & Commercial Independence

Any product mentions are for illustration or education. We do not accept payment to alter conclusions. If affiliate links are used, they are disclosed, and they do not change our sourcing or conclusions.

Conflicts of Interest

Contributors must disclose any financial or personal interests related to a topic. Disclosures are added to relevant pages when applicable.
