Historical Actions:

Antispasmodic and antirheumatic. Isoflavones (“phytoestrogens”) bind to estrogen receptors and have mild estrogen-like activity. Promotes effectual labor contractions, relieves false labor pains and facilitates post-partum recovery.

Historical Uses:

Dull, aching, contractive muscle pains (esp. rheumatic and myalgic pains). Low-estrogen conditions. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS); painful, weak, irregular or delayed menstruation. Menopause. Weak, irregular labor contractions; relied of false labor pains; post-partum uterine soreness.

Cautions:

During pregnancy or labor use only under direction of doctor. Excessive dosage can cause nausea, light headedness and dull headache.
